These Terms govern your use of the Safefield Shopify application (“the app”, “Safefield”). By installing or using Safefield you agree to these Terms. Safefield is operated by Michal Bajcar, a sole trader registered in Prague, Czech Republic.

1. What Safefield is

Safefield is an AI-assisted compliance tool for Shopify merchants selling to the European Union. The app extracts structured product safety data from your product listings using Claude AI, surfaces it for your review, writes it to Shopify product metafields, and renders it on your storefront via a theme app extension.

2. Safefield is not legal advice

Information on this page is generated with AI assistance and provided as merchant-supplied product data under Regulation (EU) 2023/988. Legal responsibility for accuracy, completeness, and compliance remains with the merchant and, where applicable, the manufacturer or EU Responsible Person. This app does not constitute legal advice or official certification.

You remain responsible for verifying all output before publishing to your storefront, and for ensuring that the information you present complies with EU law, sectoral directives, and the laws of any Member State in which you sell. Safefield provides confidence scores, rationale text, and a review workflow to support — not replace — your own compliance review.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate manufacturer, EU Responsible Person, and other data where the app cannot infer it from your listings.
  • Review extracted fields, especially warnings, safety instructions, and CE directive references, before approving them for display on your storefront.
  • Comply with Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Regulation (EU) 2019/1020, and any sector-specific directives applicable to your products.
  • Maintain current Declaration of Conformity documents and provide URLs for them when applicable.

4. Subscription and billing

Safefield offers a Free plan and three paid plans (Starter, Growth, Scale). Paid plans are billed in US dollars (USD), on a recurring monthly basis through Shopify’s AppSubscription API. Shopify, not Safefield, charges your primary payment method.

You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from the Plans page inside the app. Changes take effect immediately and are prorated by Shopify when applicable. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods; downgrades or cancellations take effect at the end of the current period unless Shopify prorates the change.

5. Service availability

Safefield is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not offer a formal service-level agreement (SLA). We do monitor the app, run daily reference-data checks, and operate a worker queue with retries and dead-letter handling. The app may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, third-party outages (Railway, Shopify, Anthropic, Cloudflare), or incidents.

6. Data handling

Our handling of merchant and product data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the app you agree that product data is sent to Anthropic for extraction, stored in EU-based Railway Postgres, and cached for up to 7 days.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Safefield is provided “as is” and without warranty. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to regulatory fines, market-surveillance action, delisting by marketplaces, lost sales, or data loss. Our aggregate liability for direct damages is limited to the amount you paid Safefield in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in this section limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Termination

You may uninstall Safefield from your Shopify admin at any time. Uninstalling cancels any active subscription and revokes the app’s access tokens. Within 48 hours of uninstall, all shop-scoped data (Shop record, Extraction records, Sessions) is deleted in line with Shopify’s shop/redact webhook.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Safefield if you breach these Terms, violate Shopify Partner Program requirements, or use the app in a way that harms us or other merchants.

9. Changes to the service

Safefield is under active development. We may add, remove, or modify features at any time. Changes affecting billing, data handling, or the metafield schema will be communicated via email to the shop owner on file with Shopify before they take effect. The GPSR metafield namespace (gpsr) and existing metafield keys will not be renamed post-launch.

10. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Prague, Czech Republic. Nothing in this section affects your mandatory rights as a consumer or business under EU law or the laws of your Member State.
